Did You Know?

Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air to form carbohydrates that are used in the tree’s structure and function.
100 trees remove 21 tons of CO2 per year!

Trees filter the air we breathe by removing dust and other particulates. Rain then washes the pollutants to the ground.
100 trees remove 604 lbs of pollutants per year!

United Voices for Healthier Communities

The United Voices for Healthier Communities (UVHC) is a coalition of individuals, agencies, and organizations formed to increase tree canopy cover to achieve benefits to air quality and to promote healthier communities through the use of science, research, public education, management and public agency support. The California Urban Forests Council, a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation, acts as the communications, administrative and programmatic coordinator for this collaborative effort.

UVHC collaborators have met and discussed the increased capacity and strength created by joining efforts towards a goal shared in common – improved quality of life through air pollution mitigation by expanding and caring for a regional urban forest.

"Urban forests improve air quality by reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels and absorbing air pollutants. Trees can directly sequester carbon dioxide as woody and foliar biomass while they grow. Properly planted and managed trees can also reduce the need for heating and air conditioning, resulting in fewer emissions released into the atmosphere."

UVHC will continue to grow and welcome additional partners and supporters into our regional effort as we move forward. Register my project here
